Finding the right colors is the eternal struggle of every woman who has walked to a cosmetics counters and looked at the seemingly endless offerings and trying to determine what shade was right for her. When trying to find the right color consider the following:
Skin shade: Fair, Light, Medium, Medium Dark
Undertone: Warm, Neutral, Olive, Cool
Skin Type: Normal, Oily, Combination, Dry
Using the right foundation color is the difference between brightening and washing out ones face. The perfect color is invisible upon the skin and be made for your skin texture and type.
Prepare the skin
The skin is like a canvas for your makeup and like a canvas it needs to be prepped, so that the makeup can adhere smoothly to the skin. Wash and moisturize your face at least five minutes before you apply your makeup to allow the moisturizer to be absorbed into the skin and for the face to dry. Consider adding primers to your makeup regiment to create an even more flawless look.
When applying foundation you can apply it with your finger, a sponge or a brush. Using your fingers allows you to get the maximum control for blending and reaching delicate areas like around the eyes. While a brush gives you a smoother finish.
Apply concealer after foundation
Once foundation is applied, it will cover most flaws. By applying the concealer after the foundation you will only need enough concealer to cover the imperfections not covered by foundation, allowing you to use less product.
